Margherita: The Margherita Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Assam Cancer Care Foundation and The Hans Foundation, organized a free medical and cancer screening camp at Namdang Tea Estate Hospital on Saturday, under the CSR initiative of Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Limited.
The camp aimed to raise awareness and provide early detection for oral cavity, cervical, and breast cancers among tea garden workers. In addition to cancer screenings, participants received free medical consultations, health check-ups, and medicines.
The program was inaugurated by Pabitra Borgohain, Secretary of the Margherita Sub-District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, who stressed the importance of early detection, awareness, and timely treatment for cancer.

Specialist doctors, Dr. Mamta Upadhyay from Assam Cancer Care Foundation and Dr. Jinand Singh from The Hans Foundation, along with medical staff, conducted screenings and provided personalized health guidance to nearly 200 tea workers. Patients were also screened for high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia during pregnancy, and other health conditions.
All participants received free medicines and consultations, reflecting a successful partnership between health organizations and industry partners, and highlighting a strong commitment to community welfare and preventive healthcare in the Margherita tea garden region.
