Bikram Basumatary, Officer-in-Charge of Garchuk Police Station in Guwahati, has been selected for the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation, 2026, in recognition of his work in criminal investigations.
The medal, instituted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, honours police personnel for professional excellence, dedication and outstanding investigative work.
Basumatary’s selection brings recognition to Garchuk Police Station and Assam Police, while highlighting the contribution of investigating officers to strengthening law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
The award is part of the Centre’s initiative to encourage high standards in police investigations and recognise personnel for their commitment to duty.
