Gaurav Gogoi Accuses CM of Wealth-Driven Politics, Calls for Justice in Zubeen’s Case

Dhekiajuli: Speaking at a massive induction program in Dhekiajuli, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi described the event as one of the most successful in the region, expressing confidence that it would pave the way for Congress’s victory in the upcoming assembly elections.

In a sharp attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gogoi accused him of engaging in politics “for personal wealth and assets” rather than for public service. He alleged that the Chief Minister and five directors linked to his companies — Piyush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Diganta Kalita, Manav Deka, and Ashok Singhal — compete among themselves over their properties and riches. Gogoi further claimed that Sarma ranks among the top nine wealthiest chief ministers in India, questioning the transparency of his declared assets.

Addressing the emotionally charged issue of Zubeen Garg’s death, Gogoi criticized the Chief Minister for his alleged failure to ensure accountability and clarity in the ongoing investigation. He urged people across Assam to write “#JusticeForZubeenGarg” starting this evening, to collectively demand justice for the late singer.

Reaffirming his party’s stance, Gogoi stated that the Congress party stands for development and the welfare of the people, not for personal enrichment. “This time, the people’s mandate will prevail, and Congress will remain committed to their progress,” he asserted.
