Gaurav Gogoi Leads “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” Campaign in Maibong

Maibong:  Jorhat MP and APCC President Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday led the Congress’s “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod” signature campaign in Maibong, Dima Hasao district, where an enthusiastic turnout marked a significant boost for the party’s momentum in Assam.

Gogoi said the overwhelming public participation had infused fresh courage into the Congress’s fight against alleged voter manipulation. “The public participation in this campaign is noteworthy and highly encouraging. Their involvement has given us the inspiration to move two steps forward in the interest of the people,” he shared on social media. He also attended a booth-level workers’ conference during his visit.

After the campaign, Gogoi visited the historic “Stone House” on the banks of the Mahur River — a 16th-century monolithic rock-cut shrine dedicated to Goddess Ranachandi, revered by the Dimasa-Kachari kings. He described the visit as spiritually uplifting.

The Maibong event forms part of the Congress’s nationwide drive launched in August 2025 after Rahul Gandhi flagged voter list irregularities. The campaign has collected lakhs of signatures across Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, and is now gaining traction in Assam.

Local Congress leaders termed the Maibong programme a strategic success, combining anti-corruption messaging with cultural outreach in the tribal-dominated district. The party plans to intensify the campaign ahead of the upcoming elections.
