Gaurav Gogoi Rallies Support in Parbatjhora, Slams BJP Ahead of BTC Polls

Dhubri: With the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections approaching, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi on Friday addressed a massive election rally at Debitala High School playground in support of party candidate Sahen Kumar Brahma.

Organised by the Parbatjhora District Congress Committee, the rally drew thousands of Congress workers, supporters, and locals, alongside senior leaders including Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain and South Salmara MLA Wajed Ali Choudhury.

In his speech, Gogoi launched a sharp attack on the ruling BJP and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, declaring the upcoming BTC polls a “fierce battle.” He urged people to back Congress wholeheartedly and cast their votes for the party’s nominee.

Targeting the UPPL-led BTC administration under Pramod Boro and its ally BPF, Gogoi alleged that they had “betrayed the people of BTAD” and failed to uphold the interests of ordinary citizens. “Instead of good governance, what we see is misgovernance and neglect,” he said.

Adding a sarcastic jibe at the Chief Minister, Gogoi remarked: “Come, let us both dance together on a cultural stage. If I dance, you won’t be troubled. On September 10, everyone expected a big announcement, but what came was silence.”

He further said the people of Assam no longer want “deceitful politics or rulers amassing wealth.” “The people don’t want a king; they want a servant who works for them,” Gogoi asserted, striking a populist note as the campaign gathered momentum.
