GCU Wins SITM Inter-College Cricket Tournament Season 4

Guwahati: Girijananda Choudhury University (GCU) emerged champions of the SITM Inter-College Cricket Tournament Season 4, defeating the Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) by five wickets in the final. The four-day tournament was successfully hosted by the Scholars Institute of Technology & Management (SITM) at its campus ground in Garoghuli, Garchuk. The championship featured 12 colleges and universities from across Assam, providing a competitive platform for young cricketers and promoting sportsmanship among academic institutions. The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Jhumur Lodh, Director of SITM, who highlighted the role of sports in holistic education and fostering inter-institutional camaraderie.

In the final match, GCU showcased a dominant all-round performance. Their bowlers restricted RIST to a modest 76 runs, after which the GCU batting unit comfortably chased the target in just eight overs, losing five wickets. Individual excellence was recognised with several awards. Abdul Rahim of GCU delivered an outstanding performance, earning both Man of the Match in the final and Best Bowler of the Tournament honours. Bhupati Patowary, also from GCU, was named Man of the Series for his consistent contributions throughout the tournament. The Best Batsman award went to Jintumani Kalita of GCU for his impressive batting displays.
