Goalpara Police Bust Suspected Sex Racket, Five Detained in Late-Night Hotel Raid

Guwahati, April 11: Police in Assam’s Goalpara district have busted a suspected sex racket during a late-night operation, detaining five youths from a hotel following repeated complaints of alleged illegal activities.

The raid was conducted at Mayur Hotel after authorities received multiple inputs suggesting the premises were being used for immoral activities. Acting on specific intelligence, a police team carried out the operation and apprehended five individuals, including young men and women, from the spot.

According to officials, those detained have been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspected racket. The action is part of continued efforts by law enforcement to respond to concerns raised by local residents.

Investigators have identified the hotel owner as Atiqur Rahman, also known as Janu, who is reportedly linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Police sources indicated that he is suspected of operating the alleged activities from the hotel premises.

Authorities stated that this was not the first time action had been taken against the establishment. Previous raids had also been conducted following consistent complaints from the public, during which several individuals were detained. The recurring nature of such incidents reportedly prompted intensified action during the latest operation.

Police have not ruled out further कार्रवाई as the probe continues.
