Gogoi accuses Sarma of failing to deliver promised SIT findings on Zubeen Garg’s death

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has criticised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for failing to release the promised findings of the Special Investigation Team probing the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.

In a social media post, Gogoi said that 8 December had been expected to bring clarity to the people of Assam on how the much-loved artist died. He recalled that the Chief Minister had earlier announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team and assured that justice would be delivered on that date.

However, the anticipated update was postponed. Gogoi questioned the government’s priorities, noting that on the very day the SIT report was expected, the Chief Minister was giving media sound bites about American music artist Post Malone’s performance in Assam.

He said the people of the state had waited with grief and expectation, only to be left disappointed. He added that the delay had deepened public frustration, as the quest for justice for Zubeen Garg remained unresolved.

The state government has not issued an official response to Gogoi’s remarks, while discussions around both the SIT investigation and the Post Malone event continued to shape political and public debate in Assam.
