Governor Attends Blood Donation Camp under Sewa Sankalp Saptah

Guwahati: As part of ‘Sewa Sankalp Saptah’, Lok Bhavan, Assam under the leadership of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, organised a blood donation camp at the IRCS premises in Chandmari today.Addressing the gathering, the Governor described blood donation as a noble humanitarian act symbolising compassion, empathy and selfless service. He said the initiative reflects Assam’s collective spirit of social responsibility and commitment to humanity. Emphasising India’s civilisational ethos of service, he noted that the teachings of Srimanta Sankardev continue to inspire society to serve others. He also recalled the immortal words “Manuhe Manuhor Babe” by Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, highlighting the message of unity and compassion.

The Governor termed blood donation one of the greatest forms of charity, giving patients a new lease of life while offering health benefits and a sense of fulfilment to donors. Regular donors including Hariman Deka (96 times), Prakash D. Atreya (62 times) and Prabin Barua (25 times) were felicitated for their exemplary commitment. He urged citizens, especially youth, to donate blood at least once a year and lauded the Red Cross for its extensive humanitarian work across the state. Several dignitaries, officials, doctors and volunteers attended the programme.
