Tinsukia: In a major breakthrough against insurgent networks, the Indian Army and Assam Police recovered a grenade and a pistol from the residence of suspected ULFA (I) linkman, Jitu Moran alias Moina, during a joint operation at Makum in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
Moran was among three Assam-based individuals earlier arrested in Nampong, Arunachal Pradesh, by a combined security team for allegedly channeling supplies to ULFA (I) camps across the Indo-Myanmar border. The other arrested suspects have been identified as Julie Gogoi (38) and her husband Dipak Gogoi (52).

According to officials, the raid also led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of medical supplies and essential commodities intended for insurgent camps in Myanmar. Four Myanmarese nationals suspected of assisting in the transport of these items were also detained during the operation.
Security sources revealed that Moran acted as a key contact for a senior ULFA (I) operative, making this one of the most significant disruptions to the outfit’s supply network in recent years.
“This isn’t just a bust—it’s a message,” a senior official remarked, emphasizing that the coordinated operation showcases the growing synergy between the Indian Army and Assam Police in counter-insurgency efforts and that those aiding militant movements will face decisive action.
