Guwahati Mayor lays foundation stone for Yoga Hall at Yoga Tirtha Project

Guwahati: Mayor Mrigen Sarania laid the foundation stone for a yoga hall at the Yoga Tirtha Project, Maligaon, on Wednesday. The project is being undertaken under the Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s (GMC) development scheme. The Yoga Tirtha Project is being run by the Bharatiya Yoga Sanskriti and Yoga Chikitsa Kendra, which has received recognition from the University of Health Sciences, Assam Government. The yoga hall, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, is expected to provide a boost to the project.

       Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarania emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being. He also lauded the efforts of the Bharatiya Yoga Sanskriti and Yoga Chikitsa Kendra for providing yoga education and training to youth across the state. The Kendra has been offering diploma and degree courses in yoga, including a postgraduate diploma and degree, and has trained over 5,000 youth in the past. The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the project, and the Kendra expressed gratitude for his support. The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by yoga experts, instructors, and enthusiasts, including Anath Bandhu Ghosh, a prominent yoga personality.
