Guwahati, June 5: A woman was allegedly drugged and robbed of her gold chain by two unidentified youths who posed as employees of a finance company in the Boragaon area of Guwahati, police said.
The victim, identified as Kalpana Kalita, was alone at her residence when the duo reportedly arrived and introduced themselves as representatives of a finance firm. They allegedly engaged her in conversation for some time before requesting drinking water.
According to reports, taking advantage of the situation and the absence of other family members, the suspects allegedly sprayed a suspected intoxicating substance on her, causing her to lose consciousness.
The accused then allegedly removed a gold chain from her neck and fled the spot.
After regaining consciousness, Kalita informed her daughter over the phone, following which the incident came to light.
A team from Garchuk Police Station reached the residence after receiving the complaint and initiated an investigation.
Police suspect that the accused arrived on a Pulsar motorcycle. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to identify and trace the suspects. Further investigation is underway.
