Gyanashree Bora Resigns from Government Service, Signals Return to Active Politics 

Goalpara: With the 2026 Assam Assembly elections on the horizon, Gyanashree Bora, former prominent Raijor Dal leader and Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Goalpara College, has formally resigned from her government service, signalling a decisive return to active politics. Speaking to the media, Bora confirmed her resignation, stating that the move is motivated by her intent to contest the upcoming Assembly elections. While she has not officially declared her political affiliation, sources and her statements indicate a likely return to Raijor Dal, the regional party where she previously emerged as a fiery and outspoken leader.

When asked about potential constituencies, Bora said no final decision has been made. However, she mentioned Khumtai in Golaghat, her birthplace, and Makum in Tinsukia, her matrimonial home, as possible options, adding that an official announcement will follow at an appropriate time. Bora also revealed that several political parties approached her soon after her resignation became public. Despite this interest, she emphasized her commitment to regional politics, stating, “I will never compromise on regionalism.”
