Hagrama Mohilary Urges PM Modi to Fulfil Pending Bodo Accord Commitments at Guwahati Cultural Event

Guwahati, Jan 18: Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary on January 17 called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the implementation of the remaining commitments under the 2003 Bodo Accord and the 2020 Bodo Peace Agreement, stressing that complete execution is crucial for ensuring lasting peace and inclusive development in the Bodoland region.

Addressing a large gathering at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati during the grand cultural programme “Bagurumba Dwhou 2026”, Mohilary expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for providing a national platform to showcase Bodo culture. He said such recognition not only honours the community’s heritage but also reinforces its place in the broader cultural fabric of the country.

In his address, the BPF chief appealed directly to the Prime Minister to ensure that the unfinished clauses of the Bodo Peace Accord are implemented without further delay. He underlined that the full delivery of these long-standing assurances is essential for sustainable peace, economic progress and the empowerment of the Bodo people in Bodoland.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Mohilary said it was a matter of pride to speak at the historic venue in the presence of national and state leadership. He lauded the participation of over 10,000 artistes who performed the Bagurumba dance, describing their synchronised presentation as a powerful expression of Bodo heritage, resilience and collective strength.

Mohilary reiterated that the pending provisions of both the 2003 Accord and the 2020 Peace Agreement go beyond political commitments and are vital for accelerating infrastructure development, boosting economic growth and ensuring social justice in the region. He said meaningful progress on these fronts would strengthen peace and stability in Bodoland.

The programme was attended by senior political leaders, community representatives and thousands of spectators, making it a landmark moment for the Bodo community and a significant cultural event in Assam’s contemporary history.
