Udalguri-Sonitpur, August 13: Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College organised a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Jatra’ on Thursday as part of the three-day celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day.
A large number of students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, members of the Students’ Union and teaching and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically in the patriotic procession.
Principal Dr Sukdev Adhikari formally inaugurated the Jatra and urged the participants to uphold the spirit of India’s hard-earned freedom. He also called upon them to remember and pay homage to those who made sacrifices during the struggle for independence.
The procession was supervised by ANO Capt Dr Jyotshna Baruah, Lt Dr Pitambar Sedai, NSS Programme Officer Dr Manoranjan Baruah, Red Ribbon Club Programme Officer Md Saiful Islam, Commerce department head Bikash Baruah, Debananda Mainali, IQAC coordinator Dr Hari Prasad Baruah, Dr Tulan Muchahary and Jnanjyoti Patangia.
The procession began at the college’s administrative block and proceeded along NH-15 up to the weekly market.
