Health Camp and Malaria Awareness Programme Held in Udalguri, 271 People Screened

Udalguri, May 20: A health camp and malaria awareness programme was organised at Majuli Primary School under the Udalguri Health Block with the aim of promoting awareness on malaria prevention and providing healthcare services to local residents. The initiative was conducted under the leadership of BTC Deputy Chief Executive Member and MLA Rihan Daimary in collaboration with the Health Department.

The programme was inaugurated by Daimary, who highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about malaria and urged people to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection. He stressed the need for community participation in tackling the disease and maintaining public health.

During the awareness session, health officials briefed attendees on the causes, symptoms and prevention of malaria. Several senior health officials and dignitaries attended the event, including Dr Neelu Brahma, Joint Director of the BTC District Health Society; Dr Mukhtar Hussain, Joint Director of Udalguri District Health Society; Dr N Binoy Singh; Dr Dhruvajyoti Pathak; Assistant Malaria Officer Lohit Chandra Boro; National Health Mission District Project Manager Nomol Singh Borgoyary; Dr Nazia Hasan; and Swourangcha Musahari, President of Ilabari VCDC. Local residents, along with Health Department officials and staff, also participated in the programme.

The camp included specialist medical services in areas such as child healthcare, gynaecology and obstetrics. Doctors including Dr Nijam Daimari, Dr Ankit Das, Dr Phanjamuthi Boro, Dr G M Barun Bishal and Dr Mazarul Islam examined patients and provided medical consultation.

Free blood tests were conducted through a Mobile Medical Unit, while medicines were also distributed among beneficiaries. According to official sources, a total of 271 people underwent health and malaria screening during the camp. Two individuals tested positive for malaria, following which the Health Department initiated immediate treatment and preventive interventions.
