Mumbai: Veteran actress and politician Hema Malini has strongly condemned the circulation of false reports claiming the death of her husband, legendary actor Dharmendra. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, she called the rumours “unforgivable” and urged media outlets to act responsibly while reporting on sensitive matters.
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy,” Hema Malini wrote.

The rumours, which spread rapidly on social media and television channels late Monday night and early Tuesday, caused panic among fans and members of the film fraternity. Dharmendra’s family quickly clarified the situation, confirming that the 89-year-old actor is alive and under medical supervision.
Esha Deol, the couple’s daughter, also took to Instagram to denounce the false news, writing, “THE MEDIA SEEMS TO BE IN OVERDRIVE AND SPREADING FALSE NEWS. MY FATHER IS STABLE & RECOVERING. WE REQUEST EVERYONE TO GIVE OUR FAMILY PRIVACY. THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS FOR PAPAS SPEEDY RECOVERY.”

According to family sources, Dharmendra remains at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he was admitted on November 10 following a brief illness. His condition is reported to be stable, and doctors continue to monitor his recovery.
Both Hema Malini and Esha Deol have appealed to the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation and to respect the family’s privacy. The situation continues to be monitored closely.
