Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 15 reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce, saying that the youth remain at the heart of the vision for a Viksit Assam and a Viksit Bharat.

Marking World Youth Skills Day through a post on X, the Chief Minister said the state’s young people are turning their aspirations into achievements and making significant contributions to Assam’s development.

Sarma said the government has been expanding the state’s skill development ecosystem by introducing skill education in more than 1,700 schools, promoting industry-linked training programmes and strengthening institutions such as Assam Skill University.

According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives are designed to equip young people with the knowledge, technical expertise and industry-relevant skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Reiterating the government’s focus on youth empowerment, Sarma said Assam would continue to invest in skill development initiatives to generate greater employment opportunities and drive the state’s long-term economic growth and overall development.
