Indian Army conducts First Aid & CPR training in Menchuka and Manigong

Tezpur: Marking World First Aid Day under the theme Health and Hygiene, the Local Military Authority of the Indian Army conducted comprehensive First Aid and CPR awareness sessions at Menchuka and Manigong on Saturday. Led by the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO), the outreach aimed to equip citizens with practical, lifesaving skills that can be applied during the critical “golden hour” before professional medical help arrives.

At Manigong COB (1100–1230 h), the programme comprised a lecture and live demonstrations on essential first-aid responses and hands-only CPR. The session drew 110 local participants (80 men, 18 women, 12 children). The conduct was supported by own strength 2–2–16. Post-training interaction over tea fostered a candid Q&A, followed by a group photograph with participants.

A parallel session at Menchuka focused on foundational first-aid principles and CPR familiarisation, with special emphasis on empowering civilian medical staff alongside village volunteers and community members. Across both venues, the combined outreach benefited ~200 locals, reinforcing community preparedness for everyday incidents and emergencies alike.

Speaking at the event, the RMO underscored the importance of simple, sequential actions—assessing scene safety, calling for help, controlling bleeding, and administering CPR where indicated—remarking that “immediate, informed response saves lives.”
