Tezpur: In a tribute to courage, discipline, and patriotism, the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps flagged off the ‘Saddle Borne Warriors’ expedition from Missamari Cantonment on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps, in the presence of Army veterans.
The seven-day rally features over 55 riders, including serving soldiers, veterans, and women motorcyclists, who will cover more than 900 km across the rugged landscapes of the Eastern Himalayas. The expedition commemorates the restoration of the historic Chhetri Memorial at Tulung La, dedicated to four soldiers of the 5 Assam Rifles who sacrificed their lives in 1975.
The journey will take participants through Bhalukpong, Tenga, Bomdila, Sela, Jaswantgarh, Mago, Tulung La, Damteng, Tawang, and back to Missamari. At every stage, riders will pay homage at war memorials along the route, honouring the bravery and selfless service of India’s fallen heroes.

This initiative follows the Fit India movement, with the Army recently organising a 20 km joint cycling rally with the ITBP at Aalo, West Siang, Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the camaraderie and physical fitness of India’s armed forces while reinforcing operational synergy between the two forces.
