IndianOil Launches ‘Green Bud’ Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Project

Tinsukia: In a landmark initiative to strengthen wildlife conservation and community-led ecological restoration in Upper Assam, the “IndianOil – Green Bud Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Project” was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Lakhipather Forest Range Office under the Digboi Forest Division in Tinsukia district.

The project, implemented by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (AOD Unit, Digboi Refinery) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, is a collaborative effort with the Assam Forest Department and environmental NGO We For You.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Amar Borgohain, GM (HR), IOCL – AOD Unit; Montu Chetia, Range Officer of Lakhipather Range; officials from IndianOil, IOOA, AOCLU, the Forest Department, and community representatives from the Dihing Patkai Landscape, known as the “Amazon of the East.”

The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a plantation drive in memory of late Zubeen Garg, honouring his passion for nature. A key highlight was the flagging off of a fully equipped Wildlife Rescue Vehicle, provided under the Green Bud initiative to enhance rapid wildlife response across the division. IndianOil also handed over wildlife rescue kits, protective gear, and first-aid equipment to the Forest Department and trained community volunteers.
