Guwahati: A four-member delegation from Indonesia’s General Election Commission (KPU) visited Kamrup district today to study India’s electoral system and field-level election preparations. The visit aimed at promoting exchange of best practices in election management and strengthening democratic cooperation between the two nations.
The delegation, comprising Idham Holik, Celly Harliny, Mario Valentinus Polukan, and Johan Teguh Lesmana, first visited the polling station at Amingaon Higher Secondary School, where they observed various arrangements made for conducting elections efficiently.
Later, at the Public Works Department Inspection Bungalow in Amingaon, a special session was organized in their honour. Damodar Barman, Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation detailing India’s electoral framework, preparation of electoral rolls, and the use of technology-driven innovations adopted by the Election Commission of India to ensure transparency and inclusivity.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners of Kamrup district — Garg Mohan Das, Munmi Kalita, and Pranjit Kumar Dev — along with Rangia Co-District Commissioner Devashish Goswami, Boko-Chhaygaon Co-District Commissioner Priyamshu Bharadwaj, Palashbari Co-District Commissioner Rashmi Baruah Gogoi, Election Officer of Kamrup Dr. Bhupali Kashyap, and Election Officer of Kamrup Metropolitan Manasjyoti Baruah.
Officials from the Election Commission and district administration also participated, marking the visit as a significant step toward enhancing international collaboration in democratic governance.
