Biswanath Chariali: Acting on a tip off, a team of Sootea police headed by Chandan Gogoi, officer in-charge of Sootea PS managed to bust an international gang of motorcycle lifters on Saturday. According to information, one NS160 motorcycle was stolen from the Balijuri area under Biswanath district on March 24. The owner of the stolen motorcycle lodged an FIR at Sootea police station. Based on the FIR and secret inputs, the officer in-charge conducted a search operation and managed to apprehend three bike lifters. According to reports, one Rohan Bora, a resident of Milanpur, Sootea had stolen the motorcycle and sold it in Meghalaya in association with one Riyajul Islam, a resident of Saraijonia, Sootea.

The police team also apprehended one Mukibur Rahman alias Munna, a resident of Nurpur, Sootea. Notably, Mukibur Rahman alias Munna is the mastermind behind all the motorcycle lifting cases that had taken place in and out of the greater Naduar area, informed a police officer. All the three apprehended thieves confirmed that the stolen motorcycles used to send to Bangladesh for sale via Meghalaya. Police investigation is on.
