Guwahati: Following the resounding success of its recent productions, Itihas Theater has once again captured the hearts of Assamese audiences, with its 2025 lineup drawing immense praise for creativity, performance, and storytelling.
Over the years, the traveling troupe has earned acclaim for staging thought-provoking and entertaining plays such as Dokait, Danav, Ricksawala, The Circus Girl, Mahakal, Prajapati, Devi, Policegiri, Duronto Premik, Dokaitor Tez, Sunor Kharu Nalage Muk, Bhool Nubujiba Bhupen Da, Captain Avinash, Juye Pora Manu, Maharaj, and Mahabir Lachit. This year, too, every play staged by Itihas became a topic of lively discussion among theatre enthusiasts.

Particularly, Manuh Nohoy Premik and Darayatri—both written by Abhijit Bhattacharya—received overwhelming appreciation from audiences. Viewers lauded the performances of lead actor Utpal Das and the ensemble cast for their captivating portrayals. Meanwhile, Ramrajyar Laxman, based on one of the most relevant contemporary themes, stood out for its bold narrative and was met with widespread acclaim.
Audiences have expressed satisfaction at how the producer has paid meticulous attention to the story, dialogues, and production design of each play. The passion and dedication of producer Subhash Das have been instrumental in maintaining the artistic integrity and emotional depth that Itihas Theater is known for.

Looking ahead, Itihas Theater has already begun preparing for its 2026–27 season. Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the continued love and support of the audience, the troupe has announced two new plays by acclaimed playwright Abhijit Bhattacharya—Sagar Baruah Ahi Ase and Bhikkhari.
Adding to the excitement, celebrated actor Tapan Das is set to make a grand return to the traveling stage after three years, joining a powerhouse lineup that includes Chinmoy Kataki, Bipul Bora, Pranav Sharma, Pankaj Bora, Protima Bora, Talukdar (Bahu), Babli Bora, Kasturi Bora, and Joonali Baruah.
The name of the third play for the upcoming season will be revealed soon, heightening anticipation among theatre lovers eager to witness another memorable chapter from Itihas Theater.
