Kamrup(M) Declares Local Holiday on Oct 21 for Diwali Celebrations

Guwahati: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration, under the directives of the Governor of Assam, has announced a local holiday on Tuesday, October 21, to commemorate Diwali, the Festival of Lights. As per the notification, all state government offices, educational institutions, and financial institutions will remain closed for the day.

The decision aims to enable government employees to celebrate the festival with their families and manage their festive expenses comfortably. The holiday is declared under the provisions of the National Industrial (NI) Act and Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

Residents can visit the General Administration Department’s official website or contact the department via email for further clarification or details. This initiative reflects the government’s effort to ensure a smooth and joyous celebration of Diwali across the district.
