Guwahati: Bringing immense pride to Assam and India, Kosturi Sharmah has won two silver medals at the International Armwrestling Federation (IFA) World Championships 2025, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Competing in the Grand Master (Under 70 kg) category, Sharmah showcased remarkable strength and determination, earning silver medals in both right-hand and left-hand events. Her outstanding performance against some of the world’s best armwrestlers has placed Assam firmly on the global sporting map.
Representing India, Sharmah’s achievement is the result of years of rigorous training and perseverance. Her double podium finish not only underscores her talent but also highlights the growing presence of athletes from Northeast India in international sports.
Expressing her joy after the event, Sharmah said, “This medal is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who believed in me—my coaches, my family, and my country. Hearing India’s name announced on the world stage is the greatest honour.”
