Krishnai Police Bust Highway Robbery Gang, Six Arrested

Goalpara: In a major breakthrough, Krishnai Police have arrested six members of a robbery gang involved in a recent highway dacoity along the Paikan–Tura National Highway in Goalpara district. The arrests came after a series of coordinated operations across Krishnai, Dudhnoi, Damra, and Bolbola areas.

The incident took place on September 10 at Bormohora, where a Bolero pickup truck (registration ML-08J-7509) carrying betel nuts from Meghalaya was intercepted by armed robbers traveling in an Alto car.

Acting under the supervision of West Goalpara Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Abhilash Baruah, Krishnai Police first apprehended Hemraj Rava from the Assam–Meghalaya border. Based on his confession, six more accused were arrested — Rahul Islam (22) of Gandhinagar, Krishnai; Kalam Ali (23) of Agia Bolbola; Fazal Ali (26) of Bolbola; Ashad Ali (28) of Fafonga 1st Part, Bolbola; Hilsomart Changma (22) of Damra; and Jyotish Roy (25) of Fafal, Dudhnoi.

Police recovered an Alto K10 vehicle (AS-01GG-5073) used in the crime along with rubber items connected to the robbery. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether the group was involved in other similar incidents in the region.
