Imphal, April 9: The Security Department of the Kuki CSO Working Committee has issued a public advisory calling for restraint and cooperation from all sections ahead of a key meeting of Tangkhul civil society organisations in Manipur.
According to the committee, the meeting—originally scheduled for April 11—has been advanced to April 9 due to urgency. In view of this, members of the Kuki community, particularly village volunteers, have been urged to avoid any actions that could obstruct the movement of representatives attending the gathering.
The advisory stressed the importance of maintaining peace and ensuring the smooth conduct of the meeting, which is being seen as a constructive step towards restoring normalcy in the region.
Addressing concerns over reports of a prolonged blockade along National Highway-202, the committee clarified that no sustained or organised blockade is currently in place. However, it acknowledged that there was a brief disruption between March 12 and 19 following incidents that escalated tensions.
Highlighting ongoing challenges in parts of the hill districts, the CSOs noted that safety concerns continue to affect movement along certain stretches. It emphasised the need for adequate security measures and the continued presence of forces to ensure civilian safety and prevent further escalation.
Reiterating its stance, the committee called for a balanced and inclusive approach, underscoring that dialogue and mutual understanding among communities remain essential for achieving lasting peace.
