Imphal, Dec 23: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) extended Christmas and New Year greetings to the Kuki-Zo community, urging restraint, collective prayer and renewed unity as the people continue to endure prolonged violence, displacement and loss.
In a message issued from the KIM Secretariat, KIM president Ch. Ajang Khongsai said the festive season had arrived at an exceptionally difficult time for the community, marked by deep suffering, uncertainty and irreparable human losses. He said that despite the hardships, faith, resilience and a strong collective spirit had helped the Kuki-Zo people endure the crisis.
Khongsai said Christmas carried a powerful message of hope, peace and divine light, particularly in moments of profound pain and uncertainty. He added that the community had remained steadfast in its faith and belief that justice and peace would ultimately prevail despite relentless adversity.
Referring to an advisory issued by the Kuki Christian Leaders’ Forum, the KIM president reiterated the appeal for a restrained and solemn observance of Christmas. He urged all sections of society to honour the call by keeping celebrations prayerful and reflective, grounded in compassion, humility and solidarity.
He said the birth of Christ should be commemorated through prayer and reflection, remembering those who have suffered and those who lost their lives during the violence.
Looking ahead, Khongsai expressed hope that 2026 would bring healing to wounded hearts, renewed strength to displaced families and greater unity among the people. He called on the community to remember with respect and gratitude the families who lost loved ones and to continue standing by them through collective resolve and moral responsibility.
Urging a peaceful observance of the festive season, he said the values of love, mutual care and solidarity must guide the community during this period of reflection. He added that Christmas should bring comfort and reassurance, and that the New Year should lead the Kuki-Zo people towards unity, justice, lasting peace and prosperity.
