LAC-Level Competitions of CM’s Tea Tribes & Adivasi Football Tournament underway 

Tezpur: The LAC-level phase of the Chief Minister’s Tea Tribes & Adivasi Football Tournament (U-17 Boys), 2025–26 is currently underway across Sonitpur district, witnessing remarkable enthusiasm and extensive participation from youth players representing various tea garden communities.

       The competition at Rangapara LAC commenced on December 7, and the occasion was graced by Krishna Kamal Tanti, MLA, Rangapara LAC. Matches are being held across two venues — Sonabheel Tea Estate Playground and Hatibari Tea Estate Playground. With around 28 teams participating, Rangapara has reported one of the highest team turnouts in the district. The Tezpur segment of the tournament was inaugurated on December 10 at the Nurbari Tea Estate Playground by Prithiraj Rava, MLA, Tezpur LAC. 

The event witnessed energetic participation and enthusiastic support from local spectators. A total of 2 teams participated in this segment. The Naduar LAC matches were held from December 10 to 11 at the Gela Hatinga Tea Estate Playground. The closing ceremony was graced by Padma Hazarika, MLA, Naduar LAC. A total of 7 teams took part in the competition. In Dhekiajuli, the tournament was conducted from December 8 to 11 at the Dhekiajuli Tea Estate Playground. The closing ceremony was attended by Ashok Singhal, Minister, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam. The LAC witnessed participation from approximately 20 teams. The Borchalla LAC-level matches are scheduled to commence from December 13, and preparations are currently underway.

The tournament has generated widespread excitement and strong community involvement across Sonitpur. The active presence of  MLAs and other dignitaries has greatly motivated young players and reaffirmed the Government of Assam’s commitment to promoting sports among Tea Tribes and Adivasi youth. All matches have been conducted smoothly, maintaining fairness, discipline, and the spirit of sportsmanship.
