LPG Delivery Irregularity in Digboi Resolved After Swift Administrative Action

Digboi: A case of alleged irregularity in LPG distribution at Tingrai under Digboi Police Station in Assam’s Tinsukia district was promptly resolved following swift intervention by the district administration. The issue came to light after Minu Khanikar, a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, reported receiving an SMS on March 18 stating that her LPG cylinder had been delivered on February 25, 2026—despite no such delivery being made.

Khanikar, a resident of Tingrai Gaon, said her last actual cylinder was received in December 2025, raising concerns about discrepancies in official records. The connection is registered under M/S Hrishi Gas Agency, Rongpuria, with distribution through a local collection centre in Tingrai. Similar complaints linked to the same distributor have also surfaced.

After the matter was brought to the attention of the administration, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Sumit Sattawan, sought immediate clarification from the concerned agency. Following his intervention, the issue was resolved within hours, and the LPG cylinder was delivered to the beneficiary’s home within 12 hours. The affected family, belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, expressed relief and gratitude. Sources said the head of the family has been bedridden, making the delay particularly distressing.

Officials reiterated that LPG supplies in Assam remain stable despite rumours of shortages linked to global tensions. The administration has intensified monitoring of distribution systems to ensure transparency and timely delivery, especially for rural and vulnerable households. Residents have urged stricter oversight to prevent such discrepancies and ensure that welfare scheme benefits reach genuine beneficiaries without disruption.
