Machkhowa Cricket Club Defeats Beltola in Dr Sunil Baruah Memorial Tournament

Guwahati: Machkhowa Cricket Club secured an impressive victory over Beltola Cricket Club in the 18th match of the 6th Dr Sunil Baruah Memorial (Junior) Inter-Coach and Inter-School Invitational Cricket Tournament, organized by the River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre. The match was held on Saturday at the historic Latasil playground.

Machkhowa won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a competitive total of 160 runs before losing all wickets in 30 overs. Arush Roy stood out with a notable performance, scoring 25 runs off 37 balls, which included four boundaries. In the bowling department, Surjyajyoti Bhagawati excelled, dismantling Beltola’s batting line-up by taking four wickets for 17 runs in seven overs.

In reply, Beltola Cricket Club were restricted to 106 runs in 34.5 overs. Avik Das top-scored for the side with 37 runs off 86 balls, hitting four boundaries.

The organizers named Nishan Kashyap, Adish Das, Deepak Basfore and Ariful Ali as the promising players of the match. Umpires Bubul Das, Bosu Das and Dhiraj Das officiated the game, while Dhiraj Dekai handled scoring duties.

Ranjit Kumar Sharma, secretary of the River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre, congratulated the players.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by former Assam Civil Service officer Rajiv Prakash Baruah as chief guest, along with noted guests former Ranji cricketer Dr Bipul Das, Dainandin Barta editor Shankar Gohain and former Ranji cricketer Sunit Nag. The late Dr Sunil Baruah’s wife, Dipali Baruah, and daughter-in-law, Don Bosco teacher Bijaylakshmi Baruah, were also present.
