Majuli: In a continued crackdown against the illegal liquor trade, Majuli Police have carried out a series of successful raids across the district, seizing large quantities of illicit liquor and taking legal action against several individuals. The operations, conducted over the past few weeks, were based on confidential inputs and form part of the district’s intensified anti-liquor campaign.
According to police reports, one of the major seizures took place in Kankur village, where 340 litres of Arunachalee liquor were recovered from the residence of Bhaiti Doley. The raid was conducted under Balichapori Outpost Daily Diary No. 26 dated November 2, 2025, and a related case was registered at Bihpuria Police Station.
In another operation at New Kamalabari, police seized 252.42 litres of illicit liquor from the residence of Joyram Das (Garamur PS DD No. 17, dated October 19, 2025). Similarly, Krishna Das of Old Kharjanpar was found possessing 42.675 litres of illegal liquor, leading to registration of Garamur PS Case No. 51/2025 under relevant sections of the BNS 2023 and Assam Excise Act, 2000.

Additionally, 34.815 litres of illicit liquor were recovered from the house of Rabindra Nath of Borguri Chariali (Garamur PS DD No. 24, dated October 25, 2025).
A police spokesperson said the operations reflect Majuli Police’s commitment to making the district drug-free and disciplined. The public has lauded the efforts of the police for their proactive stance in curbing illegal liquor activities and maintaining law and order.
