A police team led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) has detained a man identified as Navi Hussain of Station Road, Barpeta Road (Ward No. 5) for allegedly posting offensive remarks on social media about the recent blast in Delhi.
During the inquiry, officials discovered that Hussain had left his home in 2012 and had since been moving between various mosques in Barpeta, Goalpara, and Bajali districts. Police said he had been using a mobile number registered in the name of Abdul Kalam of Sukmanah in Bajali district.
Hussain was apprehended at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, from the ADP Nur Nabi Masjid in Purbalowasor under Patacharkuchi Police Station, where he had reportedly been living for the past four months.
Police officials said he is currently being interrogated, and further investigation is underway to determine his intent, online activities, and any possible links.
