Nagaon, June 20: A man died after being struck by a passenger train operating on the Guwahati–Silghat route at Baghbarali in the Samaguri area of Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday, June 20.
The deceased was identified as Munindra Barman, a resident of Gotonga in Samaguri.
According to local residents, the body was found lying on the railway tracks in the early hours of the morning. The incident was immediately reported to Samaguri Police.
Acting on the information, personnel from Samaguri Police and officials of the Railway Department reached the spot and launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.
Authorities stated that the circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and investigations are underway to ascertain whether it was an accidental case or if other factors were involved.
The body was subsequently recovered from the tracks, and necessary legal formalities were initiated.
