Agartala, April 7: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on April 7 expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will secure a decisive victory in the Dharmanagar by-election, projecting a margin higher than previous results.
Addressing a rally ahead of the April 9 poll, Saha cited the large turnout of supporters as an indication of growing public backing for the party and its candidate, Jahar Chakraborty. He said voters continue to place strong faith in the BJP’s leadership as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Thousands participated in the campaign procession, reflecting momentum in favour of the ruling party’s nominee. Saha also urged party workers to remain engaged in public service throughout the day, aligning with the Prime Minister’s emphasis on continuous outreach.
The by-election is scheduled for April 9, alongside polls in multiple states and Union Territories. The Election Commission of India has announced a paid holiday to facilitate higher voter turnout, including participation from daily wage earners.
