IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh briefed BJP leaders and workers on his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the postponement of Census operations in the state after returning from New Delhi.
Singh attended a reception at the BJP state office, Thambal Sanglen, where BJP State President A. Sharda Devi, MLAs, senior party leaders and workers welcomed him.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said the BJP’s central leadership was aware of the sentiments, aspirations and concerns of the people of Manipur. He cited the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state as an example of this understanding.
The Chief Minister said the state government remained committed to restoring peace, normalcy and stability in Manipur. He also highlighted the reopening of National Highway connectivity, saying inter-state movement had resumed, making travel safer and more affordable.
Singh appealed to all sections of society and stakeholders to work collectively towards lasting peace and normalcy. He also urged people to refrain from bandhs and general strikes, saying such disruptions adversely affected livelihoods and daily life.
