Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has congratulated artist Sarungbam Nimai Singh of Yumnam Leikai, Imphal, after he was selected for the prestigious Lalit Kala Akademi Award at the 65th National Exhibition of Art.
Nimai Singh was among 20 artists chosen for the award from 6,175 entries received from across India. His teak wood sculpture, ‘Mudra-1’, earned him the recognition.
Congratulating the artist, Khemchand Singh said the achievement was a matter of pride for Manipur and added to the state’s artistic heritage. He also wished Nimai Singh continued success in his artistic career.
The award has brought national recognition to Nimai Singh’s work and highlighted the contribution of artists from Manipur to India’s wider visual arts landscape.
