Manipur CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh to Visit Jiribam Again for Peace Talks with Meitei and Kuki Leaders

Imphal, April 3: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh is set to visit Jiribam district from April 4 to April 6 as part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and rebuild trust in violence-affected areas of the state, sources said.

During the visit, Singh is expected to engage with community leaders from both Meitei and Kuki groups in a bid to promote reconciliation and stability. He is likely to arrive in Jiribam around 12:55 pm on April 4 and will undertake field visits to key locations including Leingangpokpi Police Outpost, Jiribam District Hospital and Lamlenkhul, where he is expected to review the ground situation and interact with officials and residents.

The visit follows his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on April 1, where the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur and the need to expedite the peace process were discussed. After returning to Imphal, the Chief Minister also met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, with discussions likely focusing on the security scenario and updates from the Centre.

Singh will be accompanied by a delegation of seven MLAs, including Tongbram Robindro, Kongkham Robindro, L. Rameshwor Meetei, Dr S. Ranjan, H. Dingo, S. Premchandra and Paonam Brojen.

Earlier on April 2, the Chief Minister had chaired a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, directing officials to strengthen security along National Highways and ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of people and goods. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability and public confidence through coordinated action.

This will be Singh’s second visit to Jiribam since assuming office, following an earlier tour on February 11, reflecting the administration’s continued focus on restoring normalcy in the region.
