Imphal, March 26: Security forces stepped up operations in Ukhrul district, dismantling multiple illegal bunkers in Litan and Mongkot Chengpu as part of an intensified effort to contain unrest in the hill region.
The coordinated operation, launched on March 24, continued into the following day, with personnel demolishing six unauthorised bunkers in upper village areas. Officials described the कार्रवाई as a key breakthrough in the ongoing campaign to neutralise fortified positions linked to recent tensions.
Police said the targeted action has rendered most bunkers in the violence-affected Litan area ineffective, significantly weakening the operational capabilities of armed elements suspected to be involved in the disturbances.
The move forms part of a broader strategy aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring stability. Security forces remain on heightened alert, with deployments strengthened across sensitive locations to ensure law and order.
Authorities reiterated that operations will continue until all threats are eliminated and normalcy is fully restored, while urging residents to cooperate and avoid any actions that could aggravate the situation.
