Manipur Crackdown: Three PREPAK (Pro) Cadres Arrested in Anti-Extortion Operations

Imphal, Feb 28: Security forces in Manipur on February 27 carried out coordinated operations against insurgent-linked extortion networks, arresting three active members of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive faction) in separate raids across Thoubal and Imphal districts.

According to official sources, Thokchom Rabichandra Singh (36), an alleged extortionist and active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), was apprehended from Uyal Makha Leikai under Thoubal Police Station in Thoubal district. A resident of Heirok Part-II, Bazar Laikol Leirak in the same district, he was reportedly involved in extortion activities linked to the outfit. A mobile phone was seized from his possession during the operation.

In a separate action on the same day, security personnel arrested Khuraijam Rojitkumar Singh (37), another active PREPAK (Pro) cadre, from his residence at Thongju Part-II Makha Leikai in Imphal East district. The arrest was made under the jurisdiction of Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. Authorities recovered a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from him.

Continuing the drive, security forces also detained Kshetrimayum Laiba Meitei (42), an active member of the Progressive faction, from his residence at Lamdeng Khunou in Imphal West district under Lamsang Police Station limits. A mobile phone and an identity card were seized during the operation.

Officials stated that the arrests were part of sustained intelligence-based efforts to dismantle insurgent networks and curb unlawful activities, including extortion, intimidation and recruitment. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of their involvement and identify additional associates.
