The Cyber Crime Police Station in Manipur has arrested a 58-year-old man after registering a case over an alleged Facebook post containing obscene and derogatory remarks against a woman.
The accused was identified as Paonam Dhaneshwor, 58, son of late P Kulla Singh and a resident of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai in Imphal East district.
Police said the case was registered after the alleged objectionable content was posted on Facebook. During the investigation, officers identified Dhaneshwor and arrested him in connection with the case.
Further investigation is underway.
The Cyber Crime Police Station advised social media users against posting or sharing obscene, derogatory or objectionable material, particularly content that could cause harassment, humiliation or harm to an individual’s dignity and reputation.
