Manipur Government Restores Internet Services in Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Kamjong Districts

Imphal: The Manipur Government on February 13 revoked its earlier orders suspending internet and data services in parts of the state, following a review of the law and order situation and the disruptions caused to the public.

The Home Department had initially imposed a five-day suspension of internet, broadband, VPN, and VSAT services in the entire revenue jurisdiction of Ukhrul district from 11:30 am on February 10. Similar restrictions were enforced in the Lhungtin Sub-Division of Kangpokpi district and Phungyar Sub-Division of Kamjong district from 5:30 pm the same day.

Citing a reassessment of the prevailing situation and the inconvenience faced by citizens and institutions, the state government decided to revoke the suspension. Exercising powers under Rule 3 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecommunication Services Rules, 2026, the Governor ordered all previous directives on internet curbs to be lifted until further notice.

Internet service providers have been instructed to comply immediately with the revocation. The government also urged residents to use online services responsibly to avoid situations that could necessitate future suspensions. The order was issued by Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur.
