Manipur: PLA Insurgent Arrested in Imphal West; Joint Forces Launch Crackdown in Jiribam After Civilian Attack

Manipur security forces arrested a member of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF)/People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Imphal West on September 16, as joint forces intensified area domination operations in Jiribam district following an armed assault on civilians.

Acting on specific intelligence, a combined unit of Imphal West district police commandos and the 33 Assam Rifles apprehended 45-year-old Huidrom Pritam Singh from Takyelkhongbal Pongshubam Leikai under Lamphel police station. Singh is identified as an active operative of the banned outfit.

Concurrently, a joint contingent comprising the Jiribam district police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles launched extensive security sweeps along the strategic Barak-Jiri river corridor. The operation spanned the villages of Gilgal, Baiboni, Latingkhal, and Muolzol following an incident where armed miscreants fired indiscriminately at local residents.

Security personnel maintain an active presence across the sensitive river axis to deter further violence, stabilize the region, and restore public order.
