Manipur Police Arrest Alleged KCP (MFL) Cadre in Imphal East, Seize Pistol and Live Ammunition

Imphal, June 8: Manipur Police arrested an alleged active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) during an operation conducted in Imphal East district, officials said.

The arrest was made on June 6 at Langdum Makha Leikai under Irilbung Police Station. The accused has been identified as Ningthoujam Yamba Singh (45), a resident of Keirao Bitra Awang Leikai in Imphal East district. He is also known by several aliases, including Boy, Naocha, Loijing and Sanayamba.

According to officials, the arrested cadre was allegedly involved in extortion activities aimed at collecting funds for the proscribed outfit. He is accused of targeting members of the public, private establishments and government offices as part of the alleged extortion network.

During the operation, security personnel recovered a 9 mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing four live rounds. A sling bag was also seized from his possession.

Police said the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the activities of banned militant organisations and dismantle extortion networks operating in the state. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of his involvement and identify any additional links associated with the outfit.
