Manipur Police Arrest Alleged RPF/PLA Cadre, Recover Two Hand Grenades in Imphal

Manipur Police arrested an alleged active cadre of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA), who was suspected of involvement in planting grenades at various locations in the Imphal area, officials said on Wednesday.

The arrested individual was identified as Thokchom Sanju Meitei, also known as Luwang, aged 26, a resident of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai in Kakching district.

According to police, he was apprehended during an operation conducted on August 4 in the Thangmeiband Khuyathong Polem Leikai area of Imphal West district.

During the operation, security personnel recovered two hand grenades from his possession.

Police said the accused was allegedly involved in planting grenades at different locations across the Imphal area. Investigators are continuing their probe to establish his role in the incidents and to identify any links with other operatives associated with the banned outfit.
