Manipur Police Arrest Four Alleged Insurgents in Separate Operations Across State

Imphal, June 26: Manipur Police and security forces arrested four alleged insurgent operatives linked to different proscribed organisations during separate operations conducted across the state on June 24 and 25, officials said.

One of the arrested individuals was identified as Shamjetshabam Kokfai Meitei (26), an alleged extortionist associated with SOREPA. A resident of Kakching Khunou Umathel Mathak Leikai in Kakching district, he was apprehended from his locality on June 25.

In another operation carried out the same day, security forces arrested an alleged active cadre of KYKL, Konsam Oken Meitei, also known by the aliases Maijao, Malemnganba and Bode. The 36-year-old, a resident of Heirok Part-III, Kabo Leikai in Thoubal district, was apprehended from Wangjing Sabal Leikai under the jurisdiction of Khongjom Police Station.

On June 24, police also arrested an alleged recruiter of PREPAK (PRO), identified as Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei, also known as Baruni and Koubru. The 45-year-old was taken into custody from Top Makha Leikai near Shagolsem Pukhri under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.

In a separate operation, security forces arrested an alleged cadre of NRFM, RK Bothoi, who is also known by the aliases Amit and Sinthangamba, from Yairipok Kakmayai Lamkhai under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal district.

Officials said a .32 pistol along with a magazine loaded with three live rounds of ammunition was recovered from Bothoi’s possession. Further investigation is underway in all the cases.
