Manipur Police have arrested four individuals and confiscated narcotics, cash and items linked to illegal drug distribution in two separate operations carried out this week across Senapati and Imphal East districts.
The first major interception took place on 20 November at Phikomei Junction in Senapati, where officers detained AI Mamun, 30, a resident of Batabari in Assam. During the operation, police recovered five packets of WY tablets weighing 5.7 kilogrammes, along with a four-wheeler vehicle, a mobile phone, a debit card and Rs 1,420 in cash. Authorities described the seizure as a significant step in disrupting synthetic drug trafficking through key transit corridors in the state.
A day earlier, police launched another operation in Imphal East that led to the arrest of three individuals from Hatta Gollapati in connection with an NDPS case previously registered at Tengnoupal Police Station. The accused were identified as Ibemma, 46, from Minuthong Telipati; Md Afzal, 28, from Porompat Muslim Road No. 2; and Shahabuddin, 51, from Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai.
During the operation, officers seized Rs 2 lakh in cash along with 91 empty bottles believed to have been used for transporting brown sugar. Other items recovered included six empty containers, five keys, three Aadhaar cards, three PAN cards, an election ID, two smartphones, a bank passbook and a driving licence believed to support drug supply activities.
Police said investigations are ongoing and further action may follow as part of continued efforts to dismantle narcotic networks operating in the region.
