Manipur Police Arrest KCP Cadre, Recover Arms and Drugs in Multiple Operations

Imphal, March 22: Security forces in Manipur intensified operations against insurgent activity and drug trafficking, leading to the arrest of a cadre of the proscribed KCP (PWG) and multiple recoveries across districts on March 20.

According to officials, the accused, identified as Koijam Boby Meitei alias Waibi (47), was apprehended from an area under Irilbung police station in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was seized from his possession during the operation.

In a separate search conducted the same day in Imphal West district, security personnel recovered arms and related materials from Phayeng Mamang Leikai under Lamsang police station. The seizure included a .32 pistol with a magazine, four stun shells, eight tear smoke shells, and documents such as diaries and register books.

Another operation in Tengnoupal district, carried out in Chavangphai under Moreh police station, led to the recovery of suspected narcotics and cash. Officials said around 13.4 kg of crystal methamphetamine along with ₹2 lakh was seized from a house in the area.

Authorities stated that the coordinated actions form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent networks and curb illegal drug trade in the state. Further investigation is underway to establish links between the arrested individual and the materials recovered.
