Manipur Police intensified its crackdown on militant activity with a series of coordinated operations across the state, resulting in multiple arrests and the recovery of a large stockpile of arms, ammunition and suspected extortion proceeds.
One of the most significant breakthroughs was the arrest of 56-year-old Yumnam Tomba Singh, an active member of the RPF/PLA, who was intercepted at the Kakching Police Station Gate checkpoint. During the operation, security forces recovered a 7.62 LMG, a .303 LMG, an SLR rifle and 583 rounds of assorted live ammunition, along with a mobile phone. Officials described the seizure as one of the largest in recent weeks.
On the same day, another operation led to the arrest of 28-year-old Oinam Bishorjit Singh from his residence at Thiyam Leishangkhong Leirak in Imphal West. He was suspected of collecting funds on behalf of the KCP (PWG). Police recovered a mobile phone and ₹34,000, believed to be linked to extortion activities.
A further arrest followed in Imphal West with the detention of Konjengbam Chandrakumar Singh, aged 40, an active RPF/PLA cadre residing at Takyelpat Government Polytechnic Quarter Type-III. Officers recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, 13 live rounds and two mobile phones during the search.
A day prior, Central Forces apprehended 18-year-old Konjenbam Sanathoi Singh, an active PREPAK (PRO) cadre, near Moreh Gate No. 2 under Tengnoupal district.
In a separate recovery, police found a concealed .38 pistol with two rounds of live ammunition in the Heirangoithong bridge area under Singjamei Police Station on November 22.
Authorities said the operations were based on precise intelligence inputs and form part of an ongoing drive to dismantle militant networks and disrupt extortion activities across Manipur. Police confirmed that intensified search and combing operations will continue as security forces work to suppress the activities of armed groups operating in the region.
